Chris & Alice's Wedding at Slaugham Place, Haywards Heath, West Sussex
Chris & Alice had a church ceremony at St Mary Magdalene's Church in Bolney before heading over to the picturesque Elizabethan ruins of Slaugham Place. View the full wedding using the slideshow below (swipe through images on a mobile) or scroll down for a few shots:
The day began at Alice's parents country cottage near Steyning for some bridal preparation photos and shots of the wedding dress hanging up and the pastel pink and white flowers.
My second photographer, Gosia, also worked with me to capture the Groom, Chirs, getting ready at the Eight Bells pub just opposite the church. Chris wore his military uniform for the ceremony before changing into a morning suit for the reception. The wedding guests arrived at the pub beforehand, whilst the best man tweaked his speech over a pint.
A few shots of Alice, the Bride, getting into her dress and off we went to the church, riding in style in this stunning 1934 Royal Blue Wolseley County Saloon. The wedding ceremony was heartwarming and the Bride's brother sang a rendition of Ave Maria whilst they signed the register.
A bit of confetti, or rather a LOT of confetti, and we took the wedding car to Staplefield village green for some photos in the countryside, just near the reception venue.
The reception was decorated with old photos and pastel colours inside the marquee. Alice loves tea, so the wedding favours were little test tubes of different tea varieties and the tables were laid along a tea theme, with teapots holding flowers and teacups with candles inside.
It rained for a little when we first arrived so we shot some group photographs indoors before the sun came out to give us some beautiful light over the grounds of Slaugham Place for some more portraits of the Bride & Groom.
We caught a few photos in Golden Hour light, where the sun gets low in the sky and all the ruins of Slaugham and leave on the trees glow as light illuminates their edges.
Then finally, some speeches, a few 'toasts', a Photo-booth and some dancing with a ceilidh band! We also went out for a final shot amongst the ruins as a mist set in and we set up some flashes around the bride and groom to illuminate everything in this beautiful atmosphere.
