Photos from Emily & Mark’s Charterhouse wedding and civil ceremony in Godalming, Surrey. Charterhouse is a beautiful historic school, and the wedding ceremony was set up in the South African Cloister. I met Mark and the Groomsmen at the venue when they were setting up for the wedding. There were empty glass bottles with and fairy lights wrapped around them and the pillars of the cloister.
Charterhouse Wedding in the South African Cloister
Emily arrived in a beautiful white taxi (courtesy of www.whitelondontaxis.com) which was strategically parked in front of the chapel for a beautiful backdrop for shots of Emily and the Bridesmaids (one of which was Meg, whose wedding you can view here.
After an intimate wedding ceremony, we went out onto the lawns of the cricket pitch for a group photo of everyone, before going round to the north side of Charterhouse in the beautifully presented flower gardens. Here, we shot the group photos and started getting some portraits of Emily and Mark around the Charterhouse Grounds.
Walking back through the grounds, we shot a few different shots in the South African Cloister where they got married just an hour earlier. The cloister has beautiful vaulted arches and loads of natural light flooding in the traditional windows. I also loved the archway entrance as the sunlight cast deep shadows to create a moody atmosphere and silhouette figures against the backdrop.
Afternoon Tea Wedding Reception
After a few shots with the white taxi, the driver chauffeured Emily and Mark onto their afternoon tea style wedding reception in their parent’s back garden. An extended gazebo gave shelter from the summer sun across a trestle table dressed with vintage crockery and decorations, and a three tier sponge cake, was decorated with fruit and flowers, and stood on an engraved wood slice.
Godalming Wedding Photography along the River Wey Canal
Near their reception, is the River Wey, with canal boats moored along the side next to Farncombe boat house in Godalming. We got some great photos by the canal tow path and in a beautiful wildflower field full of buttercups.
Congratulations to Emily and Mark! You can see the full wedding here.
