This Amersham Wedding in December was absolutely beautiful. An intimate wedding of 15 people due to social distancing rules, saw Catherine & James tie the knot at All Saints Church in Coleshill, near Amersham.

The countryside church of All Saints Church in Coleshill has a stunning lych gate, which Iw anted to utilise for photos, but the lighting made this slightly difficult. Instead, a shot by the church doors, with the gate in the background provided a suitable composition. Catherine had mentioned getting a ‘wrap around’ veil shot, and I was really please with he results.

This Amersham wedding had the reception at the Kings Arms (with the Kings Chapel wedding venue out the back) in the centre of the old town. The streets were busy with Christmas shoppers, but Church Street was nice and quiet for a couple of walking shots, and we then walked to the memorial garden, where I have shot a wedding before!

Beautiful backlighting from an approaching golden hour and low winter sun really lit up these shots near the end of the memorial garden, and the Christmas lights gave it that extra touch.

The memorial garden has a wonderful little bridge in the centre, and the old towns quaint town houses in Amersham make for great wedding photography backdrops.

Our sparkler shots needed a couple of attempts, but we got it on the second run and no one got singed!

The evening ended with some sparklers up by the Kings Chapel and some off camera flash shots along Amersham high street, in front of the Kings Arms. Some back lighting with a Rouge modifier helped soften and focus the light in these shots in the town and a wide open aperture let in enough ambient light and a soft bokeh for the lights in the background.
