Firle Place Wedding Photography – Anna-Karin & Robert’s church wedding in East Sussex

Firle Place Wedding Photography: A wedding in the quiet village of Firle

This bout of Firle Place wedding photography began with our Groom, Robert at the local pub in Firle, The Ram Inn. We shot a couple of photos as Robert greeted guests with the groomsmen at the pub before heading to the church to prepare for the ceremony at St Peter’s Church in Firle.

St Peter’s Church in Firle

When Anna-Karin arrived, we photographed a couple of bridal party shots outside the church before heading in for the ceremony with the vicar, Rev Peter Owen Jones. The church is incredibly old, built in flint stones, the traditional method of the medieval Saxons, but is quite spacious and allows a little bit of movement during the ceremony (something I would usually never do in the church ceremony). We got some great photographs of the ceremony before heading outside to throw some confetti and tie ribbons to the love tree.

Firle Place is a very versatile wedding venue, with the church right next door allowing you to walk straight to the wedding venue. Firle Place has three different wedding reception options and this wedding was held at the Georgian Riding School, which has a large barn-style function room. After throwing confetti outside the church, we allowed the guests to go straight to the venue whilst we used this delightful footpath up to the church for a few bridal portraits before heading tot he reception ourselves.

We were a bit unlucky with the weather and had a spot of summer rain just after shooting the group photos on the lawn outside the riding school building. Luckily, the decor of the venue is absolutely beautiful and we got a great shot of the fairy lights in the rafters of the building. We also got a great bit of rain photography after the wedding breakfast. The colour scheme was dusky blue (greylike), with whites and pale pink. The afternoon entertainment was done by one of the ushers, playing reggae and jazz on the decks. There were also fairy lights in ceiling, hoops of floral decorations on wall, tables with wood slices and vases on, tea lights and a cork bar sign. Their wedding favours were little jam jars doubling up as place names. You can view all of this in the client area where the full wedding is on display.

Firle Place at Sunset

So after the post meal entertainment, which was a ceilidh with a live band, hosting the first dance, cake cutting and traditional folk style dancing; we headed out around the grounds for the sunset as the rain clouds just passed us to allow a couple more photographs outside around the grounds of Firle Place.
