Giulietta & David’s beautiful countryside wedding at Grittenham barn, near Petworth in West Sussex. Our wedding photography shoot was a little interrupted at times by scattered heavy showers of rain, but we managed to get some lovely shots with a rainbow!
I had this idea in my head of both the bride and groom looking towards me in this way, and for some reason in black and white. I think I’ve seen shots like this in plenty of other photographer’s portfolios and felt an urge to give it a little go myself using my 85mm prime lens and blowing out the background in bokeh with it’s wide aperture.
As I say, there was a little bit of running in and out between periods of rain and sunshine for the wedding photography, but I love shooting in all conditions, and the fairy light wall behind the bar at Grittenham Barn worked really well for an indoor shot with the rustic stone wall of the barn.
I don’t think I’ve ever been lucky enough to capture a rainbow at a wedding before, but this one was so strong and lingered for a few minutes before the light shifted again so we got a few great shots using it for this background.
A massive thanks to Andy, who was a guest doing a little video work who inspired this shot for me. I had just finished this little shoot near the crop fields and he wanted just a bit more footage, so asked if they would walk a little more back towards the barn. I subsequently then noticed how Giulietta was holding her dress in above the wet ground and the elegant way she could walk with it just hovering above the ground for this walking shot..
